Off to the Arctic!

Hi everyone. I'm presently sitting in the Ottawa International Airport in Ottawa, Ontario and by the time you read this, I will be on a plane heading for the Arctic...the ice floe edge north of Baffin Island, to be exact, on my first tour with my new Canadian Wildlife Photography Tour company!

If you're interested in following our progress across the ice, then please follow my Spot tracker trip link. It won't show much until Saturday night when I'm able to turn it on in Pond Inlet on Baffin Island, but then it will be on all day for most of the days from Sunday, June 13th to Monday, June 21st when we come off of the ice.

I'm really looking forward to sharing my tales with you all when I return, and to telling you about the incredible experience I had last week on the prairies photographing one of Canada's very, very few black-footed ferrets (just 14 exist in the wild in Canada and I was fortunate enough to photograph one for 3 hours last Monday in Grasslands National Park in southern Saskatchewan!).

Happy shooting!

John

Announcing Canadian Wildlife Photography Tours!

Hello everyone. It is my great pleasure to introduce you today to my new company, Canadian Wildlife Photography Tours!

Canadian Wildlife Photography Tours will be offering a wide variety of photo tours and workshops in both wildife and nature photography across Canada, beginning with several incredible trips this year in 2010 and a host more in 2011.

For 2010, I've already sold out two Grizzy Bear photography tours to a new and spectacular location on the Chilcotin Plateau in British Columbia (contact me now if you're interested in getting on the 2011 wait list), but do still have a few spots left on the equally amazing Tundra Tour that I am offering from Baker Lake in Nunavut to photograph barrenground caribou, muskox, northern lights, ptarmigan, red fox, and the snow goose migration, all in fall colours in the stunning Thelon wilderness area of Nunavut!!

I've also still got a few spots left for my 2010 and 2011 Jasper Wildlife Photography Workshops in the wildlife-rich environs of Jasper National Park. These will be 5-day instructional nature photography workshops geared towards making you a better wildlife / nature photographer.

And finally, I've even got an incredible heli-hiking photo workshop lined up with Canadian Mountain Holidays for this September in the Bugaboo Mountains of British Columbia. You can read more about this unbelievable opportunity online on the CMH website -- 10-12 helicopter flights to some absolutely stunning and remote locations in a 3-day all-inclusive package.

Visit my new website for a full listing of all of my 2010-2011 photo tours (sign up for my newsletter to be the first to hear about the 2011 orca photography tour and the 2011 Great Bear Rainforest tour for spirit bears!) and all of my 2010-2011 wildlife and nature photography workshops.

Hope to see many of you in the coming year for a workshop or photo tour!

Happy shooting.

John
