Inspired by Others: Dave Brosha

On my trip to Yellowknife this summer to teach a nature photography workshop for my friend Lee Sacrey, I narrowly missed out on a chance to meet Yellowknife's most prominent professional photographer, and one of the world's premier northern lights photographers, Dave Brosha.  Dave was actually signed up for the workshop (though I have no idea why), but at the last minute had to miss out on it because of some studio work.

Regardless, Dave and I have stayed in touch via Facebook and every so often he posts a shot that's just too good to ignore.  Yesterday was one of those days.

"Keepers of the Ice" (c) Dave Brosha

Dave shot this on assignment last weekend on the ice road north of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.  It was a 30-second exposure at f3.2, and he used a tiny LED light on his keychain to light up the truck.

If you're interested in seeing more of Dave's stunning photos from Yellowknife, check out his website or Facebook fan page.

Happy shooting!

John
